Speculative Fiction stories give the reader a departure from reality in a hypothetical sense. They aren’t specifically ‘science fiction’, they’re more imaginative and artistic expressions of conscious and unconscious facets of human psychology.

They give rise to thought, or ‘hypothesising’ and, hopefully, open discussion.

The five tales you find within Dispiriting Spirits each offers an aspect of speculation… a second ‘narrative’ hidden within is only discovered if one carefully contemplates the storyline. But that sort of deep analysis is most certainly not required to enjoy reading this collection.
